The “Nidahase Pada Yathra” (Freedom March), calling for the release of imprisoned Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero and the protection of Buddhist monks’ religious rights, has reached the vicinity of the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo.

The procession began in Kadawatha on 15 October, the sixth day of the march, and travelled through Kiribathgoda, Peliyagoda, Maligawatta and Maradana.

Heavy police security has been deployed around the Presidential Secretariat and nearby roads.

The march began near the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy on 10 October.
