Twenty Sri Lankan inmates from Kuwait’s Central Jail were repatriated today (26) under the Kuwait-Sri Lanka Prisoner Exchange Agreement.
They arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) on a special Kuwaiti Air Force flight.
With this transfer, a total of 52 Sri Lankan prisoners have been returned in 2024.
The returnees, convicted of offenses including drug-related crimes, were taken into custody by Sri Lanka’s Prison Department and transferred to Welikada Magazine Prison.
