Cabinet Spokesman Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa stated that the Government has provided fuel price relief despite International Monetary Fund (IMF) advice to align fuel prices with rising global costs.

He noted that a Rs. 100 per litre diesel subsidy was previously provided, while the current diesel subsidy is Rs. 70 per litre. A Rs. 20 per litre petrol subsidy was also provided during the previous price revision.

Jayatissa stated that the Government will continue monitoring global fuel prices before deciding on future measures.
