President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has urged electric vehicle users to charge their vehicles during the daytime to help manage rising electricity demand.
He noted that electricity demand increases by around 300 MW after 6 p.m., largely due to EV users charging their vehicles after returning home from work.
The President explained that meeting this surge requires all power stations to be operated, placing additional strain on the system. He added that Sri Lanka currently has a surplus of electricity during the daytime and encouraged users to shift charging to those hours to ease pressure on the grid.
