SriLankan Airlines warns of escalating scam targeting passengers

SriLankan Airlines has issued an urgent warning to the public regarding a significant increase in scam activities targeting passengers and potential customers.

The airline disclosed that scammers are impersonating airline staff and reaching out via WhatsApp and phone calls.

According to SriLankan Airlines, these fraudsters are attempting to deceive individuals into installing mobile applications, sharing their screens, or revealing sensitive information such as one-time passwords (OTPs), banking PINs, credit card details, and other confidential financial data.

The airline reiterated that it does not contact customers through WhatsApp or make unsolicited calls for ticketing, promotions, or any other purpose. It emphasized that under no circumstances will it request OTPs, banking PINs, credit card information, or ask customers to share their screens or install third-party applications.

Passengers and the public are advised to remain vigilant, ignore suspicious communications, and report any such incidents to the relevant authorities.

To ensure authenticity, SriLankan Airlines recommends verifying all promotions and offers exclusively through its official website, www.srilankan.com, or its verified social media channels.
