Starlink, SpaceX's satellite internet division owned by Elon Musk, has received a license to provide satellite broadband services in Sri Lanka.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) issued the license to Starlink Lanka (Pvt) Ltd in August 2024.
Accordingly, the company has yet to apply for importing the necessary equipment, raising concerns about potential delays.
Discussions on the initiative took place between Elon Musk and former President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the 10th World Water Forum in Indonesia.
Despite progress, the lack of action on equipment import highlights a potential hurdle for launching the service.
