• Central Crimes Investigation Bureau to also probe fin. crimes, misuse of State funds/property, past frauds   

The Police have established a Central Crimes Investigation Bureau (CCIB) with Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Nihal Thalduwa as the Range DIG and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shani Abeysekera as its Director.

The new range has been established in order to increase the efficiency of the investigation of cases under the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The CCIB will also be operational to expeditiously investigate financial crimes, the misuse of State funds and State property and other fraudulent acts that have occurred in the past, Police Media Spokesperson, SSP and attorney Buddhika Manathunga noted.
