President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced a new economic relief package in Parliament for groups affected by the Middle East crisis.

He stated that the fertiliser subsidy will be increased to Rs. 30,000 per hectare for the Yala season.

The subsidy for other crops will be raised from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 18,000 per hectare.

The President also noted that Aswesuma allowances will be increased.

Accordingly, Rs. 17,500 will be raised to Rs. 25,000, while Rs. 10,000 will increase to Rs. 15,000, with the transition allowance up by Rs. 2,500.
