The Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) Sub-Committee revealed financial mismanagement at the National Youth Services Council, highlighting inflated price quotations by its subsidiary, Sri Lanka Youth Services (Pvt) Ltd.
The Committee also uncovered the payment of Rs. 120 million for the Smart Youth program, with outsourced work at a higher cost.
Investigations into these issues have been instructed, with a comprehensive report due in 3 months.
The Sub-Committee also addressed concerns over compensation payments to 40 officials and misuse of the Council’s name by National Youth Services Co-Operative Society Ltd (NYSCO), calling for further inquiries.
