JOC to be set up

President Maithripala Sirisena said that a Joint operations Centre (JOC) will be set up at the Defence Ministry to coordinate the dissemination of information on the progress made with investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks carried out by a group of Muslim extremists. Sirisena told a meeting with media heads on Friday (26) that the JOC is a mechanism to address the issue of eradicating Muslim extremism from the country in the short term. The President added that police and tri-forces personnel, along with defence communications specialists, will form the proposed JOC.
