Sri Lanka received $5.38 billion in worker remittances during the first seven months of this year, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

This is an increase of US$947.2 million compared with the US$4.44 billion received during the same period last year.

Remittances in July alone amounted to US$777.6 million, up from US$697.3 million in June.
