Thai veterinarians are planning to trim the heavy tusks of Muthu Raja, the 29-year-old elephant repatriated from Sri Lanka, to enhance his quality of life. 

The tusks currently hinder his movement, especially on uneven terrain. 

Experts are consulting on the procedure, which requires agency approval.

Muthu Raja's injured front leg is improving through ongoing therapy.
