A Deraniyagala resident has alleged that Borella Police officers assaulted him after mistaking him for a shooting suspect.

The man stated he was taken to the Borella Police Station and detained for nearly two days before being released.

Borella Police confirmed he was held on suspicion and later released on police bail.

The Officer-in-Charge denied the allegation of physical assault.
