More than 4,000 child abuse cases have been filed in High Courts across Sri Lanka, the National Child Protection Authority stated.
A total of 4,289 cases are currently pending, with 1,683 cases scheduled to be taken up shortly.
The NCPA noted that indictments filed by the Attorney General cover offences including rape, grave sexual abuse, exploitation, cruelty, and obscene publications involving children.
Legal proceedings are continuing in courts across the country.
