Customs officers arrested three Sri Lankan nationals at Bandaranaike International Airport today(26) while attempting to smuggle goods worth Rs. 8.6 million.
The arrests were made at the Green Channel of the arrivals terminal, designated for passengers with nothing to declare.
The suspects include a 58-year-old businessman from Negombo and two 38-year-old businesswomen from Bandarawela.
Customs officers found cigarettes, liquor, unapproved cosmetic products and other merchandise in their luggage.
The suspects have been detained, and further investigations are under way.
