Stories of incidents that had taken place at State Minister D.V. Chanaka’s wedding recently continues to make its way to the media.

The wedding had recently taken place at the Monarch Imperial Hotel in Thalawathugoda and it was Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa and his wife Limini who had signed as witnesses at the registration.

According to a political news programme on a private radio channel, Chanaka had taken time to spend time with his friends and enjoy the wedding. It is learnt that while the going-away of the newly married couple had taken place at around 10.30 p.m., Chanaka had dropped his wife at the hotel and returned to the banquet hall to dance and make merry with his friends. Young politicians were seen dancing and enjoying themselves with Chanaka.

There had also been several interesting incidents that had caught the eye of many who had attended the wedding. One such incident was the long conversation Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Dilip Wedaarachchi was seen having with President Ranil Wickremesinghe. 

Seeing the duo laughing and talking, some politicians at the event had whispered whether this close connection between Wedaarachchi and the President had had an impact on the SJB MP’s absence during the recent vote on the Domestic Debt Optimisation (DDO) programme in Parliament.

Meanwhile, Minister Jeevan Thondaman was seen having a conversation with former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa.
