President promotes Sri Lanka’s sustainable tourism in Germany

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, during his official visit to Germany, met with leaders of the German travel and tourism industry today (13) at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Berlin.


He outlined Sri Lanka’s strategic push toward sustainable tourism, highlighting infrastructure improvements, cultural and eco-tourism promotion, and environmental initiatives.


The President encouraged German investors to explore new tourism-related ventures in Sri Lanka, underscoring the Government’s commitment to safety, marketing, and skill development within the sector.


Germany is currently Sri Lanka’s fourth-largest tourism source, with around 136,000 German arrivals recorded in 2024 so far.


Foreign Minister Vjitha Herath, Ambassador Varuni Muthukumarana, and other officials also took part in the high-level discussions.
