The Department of Meteorology has issued an “Amber” advisory for strong winds and rough seas in sea areas from Kankesanturai to Puttalam via Mannar, and from Hambantota to Pottuvil.

Strong gusty winds of 50–60 kmph are expected, while wave heights could reach 2.0–2.5 metres in sea areas from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Matara.

Naval and fishing communities have been advised to remain vigilant.
