Deputy Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development Chathuranga Abeysinghe stated that a QR code-based fuel quota system would not be necessary if the public uses fuel sparingly during the current crisis.

He noted that the fuel situation is not unique to Sri Lanka and is affecting several countries globally.

Abeysinghe urged the public to minimise energy consumption to help ease the situation.

He made these remarks while addressing a public gathering today (16).
