Sri Lanka Police has warned that fraudsters are exploiting the names of trusted institutions to carry out online financial scams.

Criminals often ask victims to install mobile apps and share their phone screens, gaining remote access to conduct unauthorised transactions.

The Police advised the public to avoid sharing bank details, passwords, or OTPs, ignore suspicious links, and verify app requests before installation.

Victims are urged to immediately notify their bank or relevant authorities to secure accounts.
