President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with the Federation of University Teachers’ Associations (FUTA) today(20) to discuss challenges in the university system.
FUTA representatives highlighted problems faced by academics, particularly the delays in completing degree programmes on time.
The President instructed FUTA to submit a plan for the speedy completion of courses while maintaining quality, efficiently executing the accumulated workload, and enhancing research.
He assured that the government would provide the necessary facilities to implement the plan.
Measures to improve the quality of higher education were also discussed.
