MP Namal Rajapaksa has been remanded until 23 September by the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court in connection with an investigation into the alleged misappropriation of around US$2 million linked to the acquisition of Airbus aircraft for SriLankan Airlines.

Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena issued the order after considering submissions from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Rajapaksa’s legal team.

The Magistrate also announced that a decision on Rajapaksa’s bail application will be delivered on September 23.

Rajapaksa was produced before court today (16) while in custody.
