The Department of Meteorology has issued an “Amber” advisory for strong winds and rough seas in the sea areas extending from Kankesanturai to Puttalam via Mannar and from Hambantota to Pottuvil.

The affected sea areas may experience rough conditions at times, with strong gusty winds of up to 50–60 kmph.

Naval and fishing communities engaged in activities in these sea areas have been urged to remain vigilant.
