Parliamentary Caucus for Children Chairperson and Opposition Parliamentarian Rohini Kumari Wijerathna Kavirathna said on 12 April that textbooks on sexual and reproductive health (SRH) education for school students would be published on the internet until they are printed and distributed within three months.

“The caucus requested the Ministry of Education to establish a special committee including the representation of several other institutions like the Ministry of Health, the National Child Protection Authority, and the Department of Probation and Child Care Services to prepare textbooks on SRH for school students. We also asked them to prepare a draft and to present it to the Caucus. However, we hope to summon them as soon as possible, after the parliamentary sessions commence,” said Kavirathna.
