The Attorney General (AG) informed the Supreme Court (SC) yesterday (7) that authorities decided against the construction of a road through the Wilpattu National Park, as previously suggested.

It was also stated before the SC that the existing road that currently passes through the Wilpattu National Park can be maintained under the regulations of the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance.

Accordingly, the 3-member-judge bench recorded the settlement and decided to conclude the hearing of the petition, which was filed against a plan to construct a road through the park.
