The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for strong winds affecting the North Central, North Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces and Trincomalee District.

The advisory is in effect until 11.30 a.m. tomorrow (09), with winds of 40–50 km/h expected at times due to the active south-west monsoon.

The public has been advised to remain vigilant and follow future weather advisories.
