Defence Secretary Sampath Thuyacontha held high-level discussions with Phan Van Giang, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of Vietnam, and his delegation yesterday (8) at the Hilton Colombo.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding defence cooperation between Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

During the discussions, the Defence Secretary conveyed appreciation to the Vietnamese government and delegation for their continued support, while the Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to closer cooperation with Sri Lanka’s defence sector.

The Vietnamese delegation included Lt. Gen. Tran Cong Chinh, Lt. Gen. Vu Thanh Van, and Sr. Col. Nguyen Ngoc Dai.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Defence also participated in the meeting.
