Hambantota International Port (HIP) reported a 53% rise in vessel arrivals for repairs and layups from January to August 2024, hosting 23 vessels compared to 15 in 2023. 

Notable projects include repairs on the the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel "Svetah Venetia" and the bulk carrier "Archon Gabriel." 

The surge in activity underscores HIP’s growing role as a key maritime repair hub.
