Sri Lanka’s Deepika Bandara and Chathurika Kumburegedara gave a tough fight to Xue Chen and Xia Xinyi at a Pool A clash in Sri Lanka’s first appearance in the Asian Games this year. The Chinese duo won 2 sets to nil. Deepika and Chathurika in their second tussle gave their all, but went down fighting 2-1 against a strong Kazakhstan duo.

- Mongolia barely escape lowest T20 total in history
Mongolia was bowled out for a mere 15 runs in their Asian Games opener against Indonesia. Batting first, the winners scored 187 for the loss of 4 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Indonesian lasses won by 127 runs after bowling out the Mongolians within 10 overs.
The lowest recorded women’s T-20 scores are Mali and the Maldives being bundled out for just 6 runs against Bangladesh and Rwanda, both in 2019.
Malaysia recorded a 22-run victory against Hong Kong in their games opener. Malaysia 104/9 and Hong Kong 82/10.
Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh are automatically qualified for the quarter-finals in both women’s and men’s cricket. The Lankan cricket teams left the island last night (19).
