‘MyDent’ dental service platform launches today

25 Oct 2024

Sri Lanka’s first-ever digital dental service platform ‘MyDent’ is scheduled to be officially launched today at the Shangri-La, Colombo.

This platform brings a revolutionary approach to dental care, integrating modern digital solutions to connect dental professionals, suppliers, and patients in one seamless network.

By bridging the gap between technology and dentistry, MyDent aims to improve accessibility, efficiency, and quality of dental care across the nation, according to Restorative Dentistry Consultant and Peradeniya University Dental Sciences Faculty Lecturer Dr. Aruna Wimalarathna, who is also a Director of MyDent.

MyDent connects over 3,000 dental professionals, including consultants, general dentists, and specialists, alongside 800 dental undergraduates. Additionally, the platform integrates dental suppliers and laboratories, providing a central hub for the entire dental ecosystem.

With 200,000-250,000 expected users from the general public, MyDent creates an extensive and dynamic network, ensuring high-quality dental services for the population.

MyDent is also positioned to boost dental tourism in Sri Lanka. By leveraging the country’s reputation for affordable, high-quality dental care, the platform offers a dedicated feature to attract international patients.

This initiative not only enhances Sri Lanka’s standing as a global dental tourism destination but also contributes to foreign revenue generation, providing a substantial boost to the national economy.

Furthermore, MyDent’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, ‘Smiles of Hope’, is committed to providing free dentures for needy senior citizens and prosthetic care for post-operative oral cancer patients.

As part of its vision to uplift dental care across Sri Lanka, MyDent is willing to offer its platform to digitise government dental clinics throughout the island— completely free of charge. This initiative will streamline patient management, improve service delivery, and enhance data collection in government clinics, ultimately improving public healthcare services nationwide.

MyDent looks forward to contributing to Sri Lanka’s healthcare innovation and supporting the government’s efforts to improve dental care for all.
