The government has announced guaranteed purchasing prices for paddy for the 2026 Yala cultivation season.

Minister of Trade Wasantha Samarasinghe said Nadu paddy will be bought at Rs. 120 per kg, Samba at Rs. 130 per kg, and Keeri Samba at Rs. 140 per kg.

He also said a programme is underway to release existing rice stocks to the market to ensure supply for consumers.
