Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Anil Jayantha Fernando stated that Sri Lanka is confident ongoing discussions with the United States will resolve concerns related to reciprocal tariffs and supply-chain regulations.
He noted that reports claiming a 12.5% tariff has already been imposed on Sri Lankan exports are inaccurate, adding that discussions with US authorities are continuing.
Fernando stated that Sri Lanka has legal safeguards against forced labour in supply chains and expects a favourable outcome through ongoing negotiations.
