• Minimum letter rate raised to Rs. 70; registered post up by Rs. 20

The Department of Posts has announced an increase in postal charges with effect from today (09).

Accordingly, the minimum postal charge has been revised to Rs. 70, the Department stated. 

In addition, the fee for registered letters will be increased by Rs. 20, rising from Rs. 110 to Rs. 130.

There have been reports the Postal Department is not generating sufficient income to sustain its services and was exploring measures to improve financial viability, including revising tariffs and expanding revenue-generating services.
