Rail services on the main and northern lines have been successfully restored following a temporary disruption caused by an accident in Mirigama today (9).
As per eyewitness reports, the incident involved a collision between a train en route from Polgahawela to Colombo and a prime mover at a level crossing situated between Wilwatta and Mirigama railway stations.
There were no reported injuries as a result of the collision.
However, the impact led to significant damage to the prime mover, a container, and its trailer.
