The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has announced a series of measures to assist migrant workers and tourists currently in the country, amid ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and resulting airspace closures. 

The initiative aims to support tourists from Iran, Iraq, and other Middle Eastern nations facing travel disruptions.

Key relief steps include granting a 14-day visa extension free of charge for stranded visitors due to widespread flight cancellations. 

Tourism service providers have been instructed to prioritize visitor support, offering flexible accommodation, revised itineraries, and close monitoring of flight schedules.

Emergency hotlines 1912, 1994, and 1979 are operational around the clock to assist travelers with flight updates, rebooking, and safety concerns.

SLTDA is also working with the Tourism Police to ensure the safety of tourists and is actively identifying those scheduled to leave in the coming days to provide necessary assistance.
