The Government has approved a major initiative to renovate and upgrade 2,000 km of rural roads in the Northern and Eastern provinces.

Accordingly, this includes 1,500 km in the Northern Province and 500 km in the Eastern Province, focusing on roads in poor condition across all divisional secretariats.

Public participation, along with input from community organizations and local authorities, will help determine priority roads for development.

The Cabinet approved the proposal by the Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation to implement this program.
