Today (27) marks three months since Cyclone Ditwah struck Sri Lanka, killing 650 people, with 173 still missing.
The cyclone, which formed on 25 November, 2025, severely affected 22 of the country’s 25 districts, destroying 6,018 houses and partially damaging 108,879 homes.
Currently, 1,150 families remain in 41 relief centers, while 43,831 families live in temporary locations.
The World Bank estimates direct physical damage at USD 4.1 billion.
Government relief programs include Rs. 25,000 for house cleaning and Rs. 50,000 for essential household items, with over 90% of beneficiaries receiving support.
