The JVP delegation, led by its General Secretary Tilvin Silva, is currently on an official visit to India, engaging with key state officials and exploring avenues to enhance bilateral relations.
In Kerala, they met with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday to discuss strategies for boosting tourism and strengthening cultural ties between Sri Lanka and the Indian state.
The delegation also visited the ISRO Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre and Vizhinjam Port, where they gained insights into India’s advancements in science, technology, and the blue economy.
The High Commission of India in Sri Lanka shared on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), “JVP General Secretary Mr. Tilvin Silva and the delegation met Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala Shri Pinarayi Vijayan. Discussions focused on boosting tourism and cultural connect.” It further noted, “The delegation also visited ISRO Vikram Sarabhai Space Center and Port of Vizhinjam, gaining exposure to India’s advancements in Science & Tech and blue economy.”
Earlier, Tilvin Silva and his team visited Gujarat, where they paid a courtesy call to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar. The Gujarat CM expressed confidence that India-Sri Lanka relations have been strengthened under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and highlighted the potential for renewed momentum in cultural and economic ties.
Tilvin Silva emphasized Gujarat’s policy-driven approach, suggesting Sri Lanka could benefit from its sector-specific policies.
He also discussed mutual cooperation in areas of shared interest, including tourism promotion and industrial partnerships.
