President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has directed Governors to formulate a new proposal to rationalize the Provincial Council mechanism during a meeting at the Presidential Secretariat on 22 October.
Emphasising the need for improved living conditions for citizens, he urged Governors to engage in economic and social initiatives.
The President stressed the importance of establishing a new political culture and fulfilling public trust through effective actions while avoiding past mismanagement of state assets.
Discussions also addressed vacancies in the health and education sectors, land issues in the Northern and Eastern provinces, and land allocation for farmers in Kantale.
Participating Governors included those from various provinces, including Northern, Sabaragamuwa, Eastern, Uva, Southern, Central, and North Central.
