• Urges action for alleged ‘politically abortive electoral postponement, mass corruption, econ./financial murder’

The Freedom People’s Congress (Nidahas Janatha Sabhawa) party alleges that former President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s action to postpone the elections without any justifiable reason is a “political abortion committed after mass corruption as well as economic murder committed financially.”

Party Leader Dullas Alahapperuma has expressed this in a letter addressed to the President, the Opposition Leader, all Members of Parliament and the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption. The letter titled ‘Pay the price for aborting democracy: A criminal charge against Wickremesinghe,’ details a number of incidents.

The letter further states that they are waiting with anticipation to see what actions the new Government led by current President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will take against these “economic hitmen.”

Furthermore, the letter emphasises that Wickremesinghe has sufficient time left to add a civilised and moral chapter to political history by returning the public tax money that he has squandered.
