The Cabinet has approved appointing a committee to prepare a project proposal to protect the historical, cultural and traditional intellectual property of the Kandy Esala Perahera.

The proposal will be submitted to the World Intellectual Property Organization’s project on promoting festival tourism through intellectual property.

The committee will be co-chaired by the Ministers of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development, and Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs.
