The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CEYPETCO) stated that the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery will resume operations today (5).

The Refinery Crude Unit was shut down, followed by a complete shutdown of production processes on 30 May, due to a failure in the Water

Demineralization Plant, which is crucial for the refinery power generation facility.

Repair works on the boiler water system have been successful, and efforts are underway to restore the power system.

Accordingly, the crude unit operations will commence today and other processors will start subsequently.

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation assured the public that there is no need to worry about their fuel requirements, as the CPC has sufficient stocks in storage tanks.
