Dhammika’s dollars to villages plan

28 Apr 2024

Businessman-turned-politician and DP Education Founder Dhammika Perera is looking at implementing a plan to bring dollars to the villages by linking graduates of DP Education IT Campuses with the world.

Perera had reportedly stated that the campuses were working with the international community to secure opportunities for students from rural areas who graduated from the campuses, which in turn would result in their gaining access to dollars. This would automatically enrich the villages and the country, he had noted.

Perera had made these observations at an event at the DP Education IT Campus at Sri Vijitha Maha Vihara at Konakagala in Akurana, adding that the proposed plan would be implemented within the next three months.

He had further noted that he had been able to provide digital classrooms to 400 pirivenas and that he intended to send at least 5,000 monks to promote Buddhism across the world by 2030.
