Parliamentary officials have conducted an inspection of the Srawasthi Mandiraya in Colombo 7, which has been brought under Parliament’s purview once again. The building was formerly used by the Western Provincial Council and was found to be in a dilapidated state due to years of neglect.

Abandoned luxury vehicles were also discovered in the compound with some vehicles missing vital parts. State offices in the building had been shifted to Battaramulla under the former regime, leaving the premises unused.
