Can you tell us about yourself?
My name is Panapitiyage Don Kaveeshwara Githmi Gunathilaka. I’m 6 years old and I go to Sipthara International School in Delgoda. I’m in Grade 2. I love dancing, reading, and writing. I also enjoy swimming. My dad works in Japan, so I live with my mom, brother, grandmother, and uncle. I’m also learning Japanese and attending classes for it.
What type of reading do you enjoy?
I enjoy reading both English and Sinhala books. Recently, I read ‘Oliver Twist.’
What are some of the extra activities that you participate in?
I do dancing, acting, and modelling as extra activities. Currently, I am attending acting training with Sumith Galhena. I finished training with Danushka Rathnayaka. Additionally, I do modelling training with Trikala Darani.
Have you been involved in any performances or productions?
Yes, I have participated in several productions.
I took part in a Hiru TV telefilm, where I danced to the visuals of the ‘Mandaram Kathawa’ song. Although I don’t attend any dancing classes, I really enjoy dancing. Additionally, I played a small role in a teledrama by Sahan Jayaratne called ‘The Main Character.’
What did you learn in your recent modelling training?
In my modelling training, which I completed recently, I learnt about catwalk techniques and posture. Trikala Darani taught the course very well and I really admire her.
What skills did you develop in your acting classes?
In acting classes, I learnt that being patient is really important. Sometimes you have to wait for the right time to say your lines or to react to other actors. Also, I learned how to show different feelings using my face, body, and voice. Learning these things has made me better at acting on stage and in movies.
What are your ambitions for the future?
My ambition is to become an English teacher. I also want to pursue acting and modelling alongside my teaching career.
Do you enjoy studying English?
Yes, English is my favourite subject. I’m often praised for my English speaking skills. I also attend elocution classes to improve further.
Who would you like to thank for supporting you in your journey?
I want to thank all my teachers, especially Kavindya, Danushka, Trikala, and Vageesha from Hiru TV. I’m also grateful to my parents, my school friends, Erandathee Wickramasinha, the Principal of Sipthara International School, as well as Hiru TV’s Wageesha Vithana and Dhanushka Rathnayaka.
