James Cameron is preparing for a post-Avatar era by acquiring the rights to Ghosts of Hiroshima, a forthcoming book that he plans to adapt into a feature film.
The movie will partially focus on the true story of Tsutomu Yamaguchi, the only person recognised for surviving both atomic bombings in Japan during World War II.
Yamaguchi was in Hiroshima on 6 August, 1945, when the city was bombed, and the following day, he traveled to Nagasaki, where he survived the second bombing on 9 August.
The bombings resulted in an estimated 110,000 to 210,000 deaths.
