Kalpa Sineth and Sadasi Amaya are 11-year-old twins who share a love for acting, dancing, and learning new skills. They study in the same class at Aluthgama National College and often take part in activities together.
Kalpa is best known for his popular role as Podi Man in the teledrama ‘Akurata Yana Welawe,’ which has received a lot of positive feedback. Many people recognise him for this character, and it has made him a familiar face to fans of the drama.
Both twins have recently started learning Angampora, a traditional Sri Lankan martial art. They find it exciting and enjoy practising the defensive techniques. Along with acting and dancing, Angampora has become one of their favourite activities.
Sadasi Amaya
Tell us about yourself.
My name is W. Sadasi Amaya Dewmini Fernando, and I am 11 years old. I study in Grade 6 at Aluthgama National College.
I have two older brothers, one of whom is my twin. We live in Aluthgama and enjoy acting together.
We perform as main characters in Poya dramas on a private TV channel. I also act in the teledrama ‘Akurata Yana Welawe,’ and our first drama was ‘Sihina Genena Kumariye’.
What are your extracurricular activities?
Dancing is my biggest passion, and I learn both traditional and Western styles in school and in private classes. I am also a member of the Girl Guides team.
Recently, I started learning Angampora, a traditional Sri Lankan martial art, with my two brothers. We have been training for about three months under Sumudu Teacher in Moratuwa, and I love it.
I also take part in athletics and have private coaching for swimming. In my free time, I enjoy dancing as it brings me so much joy.
What is your ambition?
In the future, I hope to become a dancing teacher while continuing my acting career. Both dancing and acting are very important to me, and I want to grow in both areas.
What are your achievements?
I am proud of my achievements in dancing and sports, including winning zonal-level awards.
I have also participated in many essay, speech, and handwriting competitions, earning several awards. I enjoy studying and always work hard to do my best.
What are your hobbies?
Travelling is one of my favourite hobbies because I love exploring beautiful places. My favourite destinations in Sri Lanka are Nuwara Eliya, Yala, the Dalada Maligawa, and Anuradhapura.
I am very grateful to my dance teacher, Nilmini Nakandala, for giving me the opportunity to act. I am also thankful to my school friends, teachers, Principal, and the teledrama directors who have helped and supported me in my journey.
Kalpa Sineth
Tell us about yourself.
My name is W. Kalpa Sineth Adisha Fernando, and I am 11 years old. I attend the same school as my twin sister, and we are in the same class.
What activities do you do?
I enjoy dancing with my sister and also learning Angampora. Angampora is really interesting to me, especially the defensive techniques it teaches. I am eager to learn more techniques.
Are you more engaged in drama?
Yes, I am very involved in drama. I have acted in the teledrama ‘Akurata Yana Welawe,’ various Poya dramas, and the movie ‘Sandali’.
Some of the other projects I’ve been part of include ‘Gini Awi Saha Gini Keli’ and ‘Mr. and Mrs.,’ a Sinhala movie that’s about to be released.
What is your most popular character?
The character of Podi Man in ‘Akurata Yana Welawe’ is my most popular role. I’ve received a lot of positive feedback for it.
Many people recognise me as Podi Man and even come up to talk to me when I go for shootings. My friends and I are thrilled about the attention this role has brought me.
What is your ambition?
I want to become a popular actor in the future.
Are you going for any training for acting?
Not yet, but I hope to start soon. My mother is planning to enrol me in an acting class.
What sports do you do?
I participate in cadeting and scouting, and I recently joined the school band.
