The Sri Lanka Navy proudly announced a remarkable achievement by retired Rear Admiral Princely Liyanage, who has etched his name into the annals of global endurance by qualifying for three Guinness World Records through an extraordinary feat on a manual treadmill.

His incredible journey began on 20 March 2026 and culminated in a historic milestone on the morning of 22 March, when he successfully completed 48 hours of continuous running.

The Navy highlighted that all necessary facilities and support systems, under the guidance of the Ministry of Defence, were meticulously arranged to ensure the success of this challenging endeavor.

During the challenge, Rear Admiral Liyanage first broke his own previous record of 94.30 km by running an astonishing 100.36 km within the first 12 hours.

Demonstrating consistent stamina, he then surpassed the 24-hour record of 188.13 km, covering an impressive 190.55 km in one day. Ultimately, he completed a total distance of 316.7 km over 48 hours, officially earning his third Guinness World Record.

In addition to these three records, Rear Admiral Liyanage established three more notable achievements: the fastest time to run 100 kilometers on a non-mechanical treadmill in 11 hours, 57 minutes, and 18 seconds; completing 100 miles in 20 hours, 07 minutes, and 42 seconds; and the fastest 300 kilometers in 44 hours, 40 minutes, and 24 seconds.

These additional records have been proposed for future recognition by Guinness World Records.

A distinguished retired officer of the Sri Lanka Navy, Rear Admiral Liyanage’s accomplishments exemplify discipline, perseverance, and an indomitable spirit.
