The Police Unit for the Prevention of Sports-Related Corruption on Friday (3) informed Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama that Attorney General Parinda Ranasinghe Jnr. has decided to file indictments before the High Court against Tamim Rahman.
He is the owner of the Dambulla Thunders team, in connection with an alleged match fixing scandal during the Lanka Premier League (LPL) cricket tournament held in 2024.
Officials of the Sports Corruption Prevention Unit informed the Court that the AG had decided to proceed with indictments against the suspect, under the Prevention of Offences Relating to Sports Act.
Accordingly, they requested that a new date be fixed for the matter to be taken up. The Magistrate instructed that the case be called again on 5 December.
At the hearing, the suspect, a British national of Bangladeshi origin who is currently out on bail, appeared before court.
