H.E. Mr. Damiano Francovigh, the Ambassador of Italy to Sri Lanka with accreditation to the Maldives, paid a courtesy call on the Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), at the Ministry of Defence yesterday (30).

During the meeting, both officials discussed matters of mutual interest, with a particular focus on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in defence and security sectors. 

The Defence Secretary warmly welcomed Ambassador Francovigh and expressed his appreciation for Italy’s longstanding ties with Sri Lanka.

Ambassador Francovigh reiterated Italy’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Sri Lanka and affirmed his intention to work closely with Sri Lankan authorities to expand collaboration across various sectors, fostering stronger bilateral relations.
